Personal security involves smart thinking just as much as it does useful products. Examples of wise thinking includes locking up the doors and windows of a home, as well as those of vehicles. It also includes staying generally aware of your environment.

A personal security alarm can be a very useful device. These operate as mini-sirens which can attract attention in dangerous situations. They range in price from $9 and $30. Some include extra features such as flashlights.

Personal security devices may be use for self-defense. Pepper spray, tasers, and miniature batons are a few examples of these. It is important to be trained on their correct use, however. A high percentage of victims will often have their self-defense items used against them.
