Security Systems FAQs
Do security companies monitor the equipment of
other companies?
Some companies may provide this service. However, they generally will
not monitor a system created by another company. Also, some will upgrade
an existing system to suit their service.
Is it necessary to have a system monitored by a security company?
No. It is quite common for systems to be set up to solely inform those
within a building of any disturbances. However, having a company provide
additional monitoring services has many significant benefits.
What is ECV?
ECV stands for Enhanced Call Verification. It is a protocol which requires
two numbers to be called in the event of an alarm being sounded. The
primary call is made to the location where the alarm was tripped. The
secondary call goes to a number of an authorized person, often a cell
phone which allows after-business hour calls. This has been shown to
significantly reduce instances of false alarms.
